Tasigna Sudden Death Warning

Tasigna carries a warning of sudden death, heart attack, stroke and the potentials for amputations

Monday, June 11, 2018 - Tasigna has been shown to cause atherosclerosis and peripheral artery disease forcing its maker Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis Pharma AG to issues a stern warning to doctors prescribing the anti-cancer drug. Www.Tasigna.com warns doctors, "Tasigna can cause a possible life-threatening heart problem called QTc prolongation. QTc prolongation causes an irregular heartbeat, which may lead to sudden death."

Before a doctor can give a patient Tasigna they must first perform a battery of tests on the patient to make sure a patient does not have a pre-existing heart abnormality. The company insists that Tasigna doctors check the electrical activity of a patient's heart with an electrocardiogram (ECG) before starting Tasigna treatments and also once again, 7-days after treatments begin, and on a regular monthly basis thereafter, to ensure there is no irregular heartbeat. The cycle of checking is to begin again if there are changes to the dosage of Tasigna. A lightheaded feeling, feeling faint, or an irregular heartbeat while taking Tasigna are all warning symptoms that something is terribly wrong. Doctors prescribing Tasigna anti-cancer drug are now required to screen patients for heart problems, strokes, blood circulation issues, irregular heartbeat, liver problems, pancreatitis, low potassium or magnesium levels, blood clot issues, and family history of any of the above. Novartis also now warns patient to expect that in addition to irregular heartbeat leading to sudden death, that they may also develop atherosclerosis, a narrowing, and thickening of the arteries leading to the extremities, brain, and heart. Sudden death from heart attack and permanent paralysis from having a stroke have been reported from atherosclerosis. Peripheral artery disease is a lack of oxygen and nutrient-rich blood flowing through to the legs, feet, and toes. The smallest capillaries in the toes die first and then the necrosis makes its way up to the feet and toes. Amputation is the only known treatment for this irreversible condition.

Novartis sudden death warning is a welcome and responsible thing for the drugmaker to do, warning consumers of the possible catastrophic side effects, however, it is little consolation to the families of those who have died from heart attack and stroke from the cancer medication. A cancer patient has all they can handle with the everyday side effects of chemotherapy such as nausea, vomiting, hair loss, weakness, weight loss and the like without having to worry about sudden death or being paralyzed for the rest of their lives. Novartis admits that they failed to warn thousands of patients of the potential for life-threatening side effects.

If you have contracted atherosclerosis or peripheral artery disease or have lost a loved one to the side effects of Tasigna, you may qualify to file a claim against Novartis AG for failing to warn you of the potentially deadly side effects. You may seek the compensation you deserve for reimbursement of your medical expenses, lost income from being out of work, pain and suffering and all other related expenses. Tasigna atherosclerosis researchers have known about the link between Tasigna and peripheral arterial disease since 2011.
